Next Men’s Intensive scheduled October 27th - 30th!
Men’s Intensive – Healing Addiction and Trauma
What should I expect in attending the men’s intensive?
This intensive will focus on healing the emotional wounds underneath addictive disorders to allow for a deeper recovery foundation. While many treatments focus on helping individuals achieve abstinence or sobriety the underlying trauma and sympathetic activation can remain. In addition to providing significant psychoeducation and processing around addiction, this intensive will also explore the traumatic imprints underneath our disconnection and compulsive cycles. Through a group-oriented experience you will find the safety necessary to begin deeper healing from our past.
This intensive will provide multiple opportunities for participants to connect with and expand their felt sense of self in a safe and caring setting.
What will be covered in the Intensive:
The neuroscience behind addiction, emotions and trauma
The addictive cycle and its connection to our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
Sharing our trauma history and narrative
What is complex emotional trauma and how it's affected us
Understanding trauma from a physical/emotional/spiritual perspective
How denial manifests to support our self-medicating rituals
Preventing relapse - staying in healthy, secure adult self
How addictive behaviors build and support each other
Addiction as an intimacy disorder and why deep healing requires community
Creating a future vision for self
Therapeutic Modalities:
The framework of Experiential therapy is to bring unconscious emotional and mental experiences into one’s consciousness by using an action-oriented model of therapy that goes beyond what many “talk” therapies access. This group will allow an opportunity to delve deeply into one’s self to find the clarity and truth of your authentic self and continue to understand the impacts of developmental trauma.
Somatic therapies will be utilized to explore our development and forms of complex trauma. Understanding attunement and how addictive processes form in absence of secure attachment will aid in understanding and identifying trauma responses in the body.
Psychoeducation through audio, video, group process and workbook exercises will be provided to explain the disease of addiction (including compartmentalization, depression and narcissism). Creating understanding in how the disease forms through an individual’s childhood and life experiences.
This intensive will allow participants to fully immerse themselves in the process to experience increased levels of growth and transformation. Participants will receive the equivalent of months of individual therapy within a 4 day period.
